Dear friends of paleopedology,

The abstract submission deadline for the 23rd World Congress of Soil Science in China has been extended to November 30, 2025.

There is now an option to submit two abstracts, and we warmly encourage you to consider participating in the event.

We especially draw your attention to the following sessions:

You are most welcome to submit a contribution to one of the WSSC-206 sessions organized by the IUSS Commission 1.6 Paleopedology:

  • 101002 – Micromorphology as a Tool for Understanding the Evolution of Soils and Environments in Natural and Human-Impacted Landscapes 101002.docx

  • 106001Paleosols as Memory: Transdisciplinary Insights into Changing Paleoenvironments across Geological Timescales 106001.docx

  •

106002 – Traditional and Novel Concepts, Approaches, and Methods in Studying the Past Genesis of Soils and Soil–Sedimentary Systems 106002.docx

I am also pleased to announce that the special issue “Applied Pedology: Practical Solutions Across a Variety of Disciplines and Issues” in Soil Use and Management is now open for submissions. This special collection aims to bring together research results, opinions, and perspectives to highlight the historical and current role of Pedology across multiple research disciplines, thus raising awareness of the critical value of employing pedological principles when defining and interpreting soil-centric research.
