Numerous rocks on Mars are not real rocks. They are fossils (note 1).
Some “bedrocks” on Mars are fossils, too. Meteorites originate from
Mars and most of them are Mars fossils (note 2). For example, the
following is a photo of a “rock” found at Rocknest. It shows textures
rarely, if ever, seen on real Earth rocks:
