Why do Toban's motives even need to be called into implicit question?

Frankly, I have no idea about any of that as regards him and it's totally irrelevant as to his sound management of this list. Here's what I will tell you. My wife & I actually have more close friends who are gay (mostly couples, male / female) than we have "straight." We're talking in excess of a dozen.

And for a reason. In our experience, they grab hold of their lives and go for all they're worth. We love them unlike we've really ever loved friends. Go figure and have to ever tried it?

I admire them even while not sharing that one single preference.

Pray allow me to elucidate:

I know nothing about Toban, save for, as you said, his sound management of this list.  When I referred to enlightened self interest, I meant it in this wise: I found the original post to be annoying, sophomoric, and trollish.  I thought, as I was watching the clickety link, with shock and horror, "This guy shouldn't be on this list; I don't care to read what he has to contribute."

When I referred to "self interest" on Toban's part, I was making a (weak) point about how, if Toban found him annoying, and banned him for being annoying, this action, motivated to some degree by self interest, resulted in pleasing effects for others.

Dang, now Toban has clarified matters.  Curse his fast-typing skills!

Honesty, I don't think he would mind being banned. He post those kinds
of threads all over Google groups. I've never heard him reply to any
of his threads. He's like a robot which posts topics all over Google
groups. I feel that he was banned many times from other mailing lists.

That's my opinion of him, of course.
