to Palaver's Travels
I Knew
I knew it wasn’t very smart
To go and compromise my heart
And hold it out there on my cuff
Knowing it was not enough
To ever satisfy you.
I knew the moment that we met
You weren’t someone I’d soon forget
Your magnetism pulled me in
But any hopes that I could win
Your heart was wishful thinking.
I knew the possibility
That you would even notice me
Was ludicrous and so far fetched
There didn’t have to be a catch
And like a fool, I said so.
That was my first and last mistake
But it’s a risk I had to take
Not knowing what I might have had
Is worse than losing or as bad
I’ll live with my decision.
