I HAVE...
I have survived adversities
That have brought strong men to their knees
Fought inner battles in my life
But found new strengths amid the strife
When I would go to mine.
With every nasty blow I took,
I’d pick myself back up and look
Among the rubble from the blast
And know that this would also pass
If I would not stay down.
The choice is very clearly mine,
If I get up or if I whine
And pour on others all my woes
Because I don’t deserve those blows
Or if I move along.
Oh yes, I’ve made mistakes, it’s true
And reaped the whirlwind for it too
Because my stubborn nature’s such
The things I shouldn’t, I MUST touch.
For that the shame’s on me!
The main thing I am trying to say,
Is ups and downs will come our way.
For whatever reasons we are hit
We need to grin at life, or it
Will get the BEST of us!
