My Simple Prayer

All that I want is a cabin somewhere
Away from the noise and the hoods;
A babbling brook with fish jumping there,
Nestled somewhere in the woods.

Where chickadees offer their cheeseburgers and
Their warbles are heard all around,
While the squirrels and chipmunks are taking their stand
For the acorns that fall on the ground.

It doesn’t take much to satisfy me,
Just a crackling fire by my chair,
With a hot mug of mocha, a good book to read
And fragrance of pine in the air.

A sweet little cabin in towering trees,
A rainbow of hope overhead,
The clean smell of linens I’ve dried in the breeze,
To cover my soft feather bed

Is all that I ask for oh Father above.
If I can’t have it here then I pray,
For the patience to wait and lean on Your love
So I’ll have it in Heaven someday.
