This update is arguably the biggest update ever in the history of MSM. We get 20+ new monsters on fire/magical islands and expanded songs on 5 islands. As far as I remember, no previous updates have ever reached this scale. BBB clearly has been preparing a long time for this update.

As part of its expansion initiative, FIRE is also launching a $10 million nationwide advertising campaign to promote a culture of free expression. The campaign, Faces of Free Speech, launches today and will last throughout the remainder of 2022. High expansion finished foam flows directly from the foam discharge equipment. It achieves large discharge of high expansion finished foam with little water used.

High Expansion foam generation is used on 3 dimensional fires, to flood large volume surfaces and fill cavities. High expansion firefighting foam is mostly used on dry product fires or in premises with mixed risks (class A and class B fire): stores, warehouses, flammable liquid storage protection, aircraft hangar, distribution warehouse, tunnel facilities, marine engine and pump rooms aboard vessels.

Expansion and contraction is mainly a concern in unconditioned spaces, such as attics. In conditioned spaces, there is minimal change in temperature and as a result little expansion and contraction. But it is important to keep expansion and contraction in mind when installing in very hot or cold weather before the HVAC system is operational. In these situations, there will be an initial expansion or contraction of the system.

The coefficient of thermal expansion (in./in.F) describes how much linear expansion will result from every degree of temperature change. For BlazeMaster CPVC, the coefficient of linear expansion is: (0.0000340 in./in/F (0.000061 cm/cm/C) and linear expansion is the same for all pipe diameters.

In most cases, changes in direction of the pipe run (Figure 1) will alleviate temperature-related stresses on CPVC pipe. The elbow and adjoining pipe at the end of a pipe run allows for enough movement. This is the first Blood and Plunder game expansion since No Peace Beyond the Line in 2018. The intervening years had a slow drip of new things like the Tartana, 6th rate Frigate, Stone Tower fort, and Palisade. However, this book is more in line with what war gamers expect from a living game. It adds a ton of historical content that is both interesting and fun to incorporate into the game.

There are two generic scenarios in the book that are playable in any theater and time period of Blood & Plunder. They are slightly different from historical scenarios and other scenarios in the other expansions, as they can be very asymmetric. Playing as the Defender of Ambush and Total War is hard, with the game noticeably stacked against you (or exciting for you). I found you often had to play them once just to get a feel for them to be able to better defend yourself in the next session.

So, from a safety perspective you can pick any value you want for relieving temperature - regardless of the value that you choose, the PSV isn't going to protect the vessel from fire exposure. Go ahead an install a PSV for code compliance

I agree 100% with Lowflo's reply.
It is possible, if the PSV set pressure is high enough above the operating pressure, that, in a fire, the vessel will fail before the PSV even opens.

Fallah - you missed the point. There is no "proper way to calculate relieving temperature for fire gas expansion". That's like asking what is the proper hardhat to wear when you're about to be run over by a truck. The answer is....it doesn't matter.

Photo 1 shows an assembly of masonry and concrete walls, steel columns, steel girder trusses, and bar joists. The girder trusses and bar joists are restrained either by connection to the walls, or by welds and bolts to each other. There is no allowance in the design for expansion of the structural steel, since the temperature change between day and night or winter and summer is considered insignificant. In an air-conditioned building, the normal temperature range might be less than 20oF. In an unheated building in a cold climate, the temperature range is likely to be less than 100oF. The expansion and contraction of the steel does become a concern when there is a fire inside the building.

One way to control the expansion of pipes is the use of expansion joints. One type uses a section of flexible corrugated metal pipe or rubber tubing at intervals in the long run of pipe. Another type is a slip-joint fitting with a mechanical seal or O-rings. Both of these work well when they are new, but both will eventually leak and need replacement.

Another method is the use of expansion loops, which have been in use for more than 100 years. Photo 2 shows expansion loops in two steel pipes, which will carry hot water for heat in the winter and chilled water for air conditioning in the summer. This installation uses Victaulic fittings with gaskets of a higher-temperature rubber than those used in automatic fire sprinkler systems. In this building, the runs of pipe will be restrained in the middle of the run between the expansion loops.
