There is a dip in the polling percentage in the election held to the 11
Assembly constituencies in the district on Saturday.

The polling percentage is 70 as against 74.11 in the 2001 election.

The polling percentage in the 11 constituencies is as follows.
(Last election's percentage is given in brackets):

Thrithala - 76 (77.38)
Pattambi - 72 (74.72)
Ottapalam - 70 (72.25)
Sreekrishnapuram - 76 (76.31)
Mannarkkad - 64 (75.62)
Malampuzha - 74 (72.99)
Palakkad - 64 (68.05)
Chittur - 75 (78.26)
Kollengode - 68 (75.39)
Kuzhalmannam - 62 (71.47)
Alathur - 67 (72.84).

Though there were 74,315 new voters in the district, there seems to be
fall in the voting percentage compared to the last election. But the
percentage is expected to go up when the final tally is arrived at. The
polling 2006 was peaceful in the district.
