Hello,

Maybe the following questions are just too simple.
The experts may happily skip it.

I sketched an interface circuit for hooking up a 30mA LED to a RIOT 6532 output port (see picture, the circuit works).

With the RIOT gadgets from Liu the LEDs are just driven directly.

Questions:
1. What are the specs of directly driven LEDs by RIOT 6532?
2. What would be the optimal way of driving 30mA LEDs, (maybe 8 LEDs in parallel)?

Best regards

The sinking current for ports A and B in a 6532 is around 3 mA, which is more than enough to drive simple LED's. I used a resistor network to limit the current to 1.5 mA though.

If I was going to drive that much current I'd probably either use some TTL buffers or a transistor as a simple switch. Like Ronny points out, make sure you have enough current limiting or isolation.

Thanks lot I changed my resistor values to the ones you suggest.
It makes more sense and it works.
