Has anyone tried hooking the PAL-1 upto an ASR-33 yet?

The RS-232 on PAL-1 is modified from KIM-1, so I think you need jump some wires from the PCB for TTY connection.

I have a RS-232 to 20 mA current loop converter, so assuming that I can set the baud rate to a 110, it should work.

Note the PAL-1 'RS232' levels can present a problem for your RS232 to 20 mA interface.
As it the case for many USB serial adapters.

The '0' RS232 as 5V is OK, the '1' RS232  as 0V may not be low enough, it should be several Volts negative.
Real RS232 levels are +3 V to +15 V or  −3 V to −15 V

Speed will not be a problem, the autobaud detection works fine on teletype (1977, last time I had a KIM-1 connected to a ASR33 teletype!).

File:TTY RS-232 Back.png - TheRetroWagon has a simple circuit, this will work for a PAL-1 I think, 0V is enough.

You could probably make a simple MAX232 circuit to adjust the levels properly.
