All,

I'm really starting to get into this PAL-1/KIM-1 world. I found the attached article, Introduction to KIM-1 Architecture, in the 3rd issue (1977) of the KIM-1/6502 User notes. It's by J. Butterworth and describes the basic 'architecture'. It's quite informative and concise and if you haven't read it, I recommend it. It explains some of the things I found hard to grasp clearly - particularly, the bit about the interrupt vectors.

Enjoy.

Here is a great video on KIM-1 Expansion and Addressing that lays everything straight and gives you a chance to work with your KIM-1's onboard addressing lines K1-K4 as well as building a simple off board decoder to address anything above the first 8K that is decoded by the KIM-1's on board 74LS145 decoder. You owe it to yourself to watch this video. Even if you already know this stuff, you will appreciate how well organized this guy lays everything out for you.

I'll echo Ronny's thanks to Will and Jeff.  The watch and the read combined made it clear and easy to understand the addressing scheme.  Now it's time for me to build a RAM expansion card! (or, to see *if* I can build a RAM expansion card...  :^)
