New PAL-1 User! RS232 stopped functioning

Hey all!

I finally got some time to put my PAL-1 together last night, was over the moon when it worked out well. The kit was really nicely put together!

Last night I was able to load TinyBasic through minicom and got it working, thanks to the config and the resources in this group.

But this morning, I'm getting garbage on the terminal :(

Any idea on advice on how to debug this issue?

Hi Kaveen,

Do other functions work after the terminal garbled? I remember seeing something similar on one of my old Macbook before, but it was OK on another newer Macbook and Windows PC, all machines shared with the same usb to rs232 cable. Not sure why but you can try power cycle the PAL-1, check the input voltage is about 7.5V, change other baud rate to see how the terminal shows.

I tried the example program in the manual, with the SST switch and it is counting up, so looks okay... Let me check on my ThinkPad as well!

I didn't hit the enter key, which I belive is used to figure out the speed?

Aha, I always forget check the $00F1 before running MSBASIC...
