Dear all
'' UNITY IS THE POWER OF MEDIA''AVOID TO DIVIDED YOUR SELF''Media freedom in Pakistan is complicated, Political pressure on media is mostly done indirectly. One tool widely used by the government is to cut off ‘unfriendly’ media from governmental advertising. .To a large extent the media enjoys freedom of expression in spite of political pressure and direct bans sometimes administered by political stake holders. Media in Pakistan provides information on television, radio, newspapers, and magazines . Pakistan has a vibrant media landscape; among the most dynamic in South Asia. . Using draconian laws the government has also banned or officially silencing popular television channels. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has been used to silence the broadcast media by either suspending licenses or by simply threatening to do so. In addition, media is also exposed to propaganda from state agencies, pressured by powerful political
elements and non-state actors involved in the current conflict. The media in Pakistan serves three fold objectives very efficiently which are awareness, entertainment and advertisement. Since the last decade the media in Pakistan has become very vibrant because of the privatization of TV channels, independent press and uncontrolled internet access to general people.
The security situation for journalists in general has deteriorated from last decade. A climate of fear impedes coverage of both state security forces and the militant groups.Threats and intimidation against journalists and media workers by state and non-state actors is widespread."No doubt the media community is under attack not only from the state apparatus but also political and religious zealots. Special attention needs to be paid to the security needs of journalists in all over the Pakistan The Media freedom is a basic pre-requisite to the establishment of functional democracy and the duty to protect it can be ignored by the state and non-state actors both at the risk of imperiling the highest interests of the people. In its 2014 Press Freedom Index, Reporters without borders ranked Pakistan number 158 out of 180 countries based onfreedom of the press. While Freedom House in its latest report listed the media in Pakistan as "Not Free" Over the last
500 years, the influence of mass media has grown exponentially with the advance of technology. Today, just about everyone depends on information and communication to keep their lives moving through daily activities like work, education, health care, leisure activities, entertainment, traveling, personal relationships, and the other stuff with which we are involved.Radio and then television TALK SHOW are very influential. As the 20th century closed, TV exposed us to untold numbers of images of advertising and marketing, suffering and relief, sexuality and violence, celebrity, and much more. New and influential media-distribution channels have appeared in the 21st century. Delivered via the World Wide Web across the Internet, we are influenced daily by blogs, wikis, social networks, virtual worlds and myriad forms of content sharing. We need to be aware that the values we hold, the beliefs we harbor and the decisions we make are based on our assumptions,
our experiences, our education and what we know for a fact. We rely on mass media for the current news and facts about what is important and what we should be aware of. We trust the media as an authority for news, information, education and entertainment. Considering that powerful influence, then, we should know how it really works. All of the traditional mass media still have great influence over our lives.
