IDEAS 2011 is an international symposium to discuss development issues and
constraints faced by Pakistan in reaching Millennium Goals. It is arranged
by IDEAS, The Society for Encouraging the Practice of Leadership from the
Faculty of Management Studies of The University of Central Punjab, Lahore,
Pakistan. The title of upcoming event is:

*MDGs: Local Engagement Vs Global Impact*

*A Call for Help in Rebuilding Pakistan*

The MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) were adopted by world leaders in the
year 2000 and were set to be achieved by 2015. MDGs aim at reduction of
world poverty by half offering global help to reinforce internal efforts for
development in the developing countries. There are only five years left for
achievement of MDGs and nations across the world vary widely in the
achievement of these goals. The Sub-Saharan and South Asian countries are
specifically lagging behind and Pakistan is no exception. Thus, an
International Symposium has been planned by the University of Central Punjab
to address the problems faced by country post situations arising due to
recent floods and ongoing war on terrorism. We invite the sages of the world
to come up with the practical solutions to help and guide us in planning for
"rebuilding Pakistan" through generating socially positive economic
activities.

MDGs have a strong link with the reciprocal entrepreneurial activities in
the country, whether developed in the business or social context. Such
activities help countries and nations in dealing with global economic crisis
threatening peace and survival in the countries leading them to the right
path of economic welfare, security and prosperity. IDEAS 2011 will provide
an international platform for academics, social workers, business
professionals and government officials from all over the world to come
together to exchange ideas on how to reach Millennium Development Goals in
Pakistan by promoting entrepreneurial activities in the country.
