CALL FOR PAPERS

Symposium on Smart City and IoT Applications to Urban Mobility (SCIAUM’24)

as part of 2024 IEEE 21st International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using AI, Robotics and IoT (HONET)

December 3-5, 2024

UDST, Doha, Qatar

As urban populations burgeon and cities grapple with the complexities of modern living, effective traffic management emerges as a paramount concern. By 2040, 65 percent of the global population is projected to reside in cities. This urbanization surge poses many problems for cities in managing mobility, including traffic congestion, parking availability, road hazards, infrastructure aging, air pollution, and inefficient fuel usage. In response to these pressing issues, smart cities have emerged as a beacon of hope, offering innovative solutions to the complex challenges of urban living. The smart city paradigm, defined as the utilization of smart computing technologies to construct critical infrastructure components and services within a city, leverages the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) to facilitate sustainable, healthy, and safe urban environments.

The symposium aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and showcase cutting-edge research and practical solutions that harness the power of intelligent technologies to revolutionize traffic management in urban landscapes. By leveraging advancements in areas such as artificial intelligence, IoT, data analytics, and urban infrastructure, we endeavor to pave the way for efficient, safe, and sustainable transportation systems.

Prospective authors are invited to submit original manuscripts on a broad spectrum of topics, including but not limited to:

        Intelligent traffic signal control systems

        Real-time traffic monitoring and management

        Adaptive traffic management strategies

        IoT-enabled smart transportation infrastructure

Autonomous and connected vehicles for urban mobility

Big data analytics for traffic prediction and optimization

        Multi-modal transportation systems and integration

        Smart parking solutions and optimization

        Sustainable transportation policies and initiatives

        Urban mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) platforms

        Pedestrian-friendly urban design and planning

        Public transportation optimization and accessibility

        Traffic flow modeling and simulation

Emerging technologies for traffic management (e.g., drones, blockchain)

Join us in shaping the future of urban living through innovative research and collaborative endeavors. Together, let us pave the way towards sustainable, resilient, and thriving smart cities that enhance the quality of life for all inhabitants.
