Theatre Wallay’s Founder Honored by the French Government

Theatre Wallay is proud to announce that our founder and artistic director, Ms. Fizza Hasan, has been awarded one of France’s highest honors in arts and literature — the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) — by H.E. Nicolas Galey, Ambassador of France to Pakistan, at a ceremony held at the French Residency in Islamabad.
This prestigious award recognizes Ms. Hasan’s remarkable contributions to promoting French language, literature, and theatre in Pakistan, and her enduring efforts to foster cross-cultural dialogue through the performing arts.
From her early studies at the Alliance Française to founding Theatre Wallay in 2004, Ms. Hasan has brought French classics to Pakistani audiences through innovative English and Urdu adaptations of works by Molière, Sartre, Ionesco, and Anouilh. Her work continues to inspire dialogue, creativity, and understanding across cultures.
Theatre Wallay celebrates this recognition as a shared milestone — reaffirming our commitment to using theatre as a bridge between cultures and a platform for creative exchange.
