[Paintings from the Street] Branded

Recently I have been including more faces in my paintings . . . but when I spotted this guy walking from a Gym near Covent Garden in London on a wonderfully sunny day, I knew that I had to paint him. 

I was drawn to the calm, relaxed yet confident movement and the stark light on the right hand side contrasting to the mostly shaded figure. The light on his head almost forms a halo . . . or so it seemed to me.  

He was "branded" all over . . . from the Tatoo on his neck to the pack of Marlbro cigarettes in his back pocket. 

"Branded" has been selected for The Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual

Exhibition 2010.

The exhibition runs from the 8th Dec to 18 Dec 2010

at The Mall Galleries, The Mall, London.

10am-5pm including weekends
