I was at a customer location using Painless Extraction with a HP 8757A
Scalar Analyzer. The revision of the 8757A was 2.0, dated 5/21/86. I
thought this system had worked well before, but it was having lots of
problems locking up and reverting to strange states after one or two
sweep collections. I re-seated the GPIB card in the PC, and changed
GPIB cables and video cables, thinking there might be some GPIB
issues. I even kicked it a few times :-)

They had another 8757A, Revision 1.2, dated 7/15/85 in the lab. I
hooked that up with the same cables, and had no problems after many
sweep collections. Either something is wrong with the original scalar
analyzer, or this is a problem with the 2.0 Revision.

Do you know if there are any issues with Rev 2.0 of the 8757A scalar
analyzer?

We checked the version of the 8757A scalar analyzer at our location, and it is Version 2.0. We have not had issues with the Painless Extraction software with this scalar analyzer and version at our location, and have used it many times for testing our hardware and products.
