Dear faculty, students, and colleagues,
In case you have not heard, the Kolber lab is (mostly) moving on from Duquesne University.
First, I am starting a job in the Neuroscience Department at The University of Texas at Dallas (start 8/1). I am (very) pleased to be joined by Post-docs Dr. Keisha Lewter and Dr. Anny Treat and technician Mauricio Gil-Silva.
Second, if this news makes you sad, do not fret. PhD student Heather Allen will still be here at Duquesne to finish her PhD. She will still be working in the Kolber lab (but supervised officially by Dr. Sarah Woodley). Technician Vianie Henri
has transferred her pain research work into the Tidgewell lab and will be with you for several more months. You also hopefully still see some of our undergraduate students including Olivia Babyok, Andrew George, and Marisa Johnson at journal clubs etc until
they graduate.
Third, other folks have found great opportunities moving forward. technician Megan Atherton has taken a position at the University of Pittsburgh with Dr. Nicole Scheff (cancer pain) and graduate student Harley Bobnar is starting in the nursing
program at Duquesne. I hope you will join me in wishing them the best of luck in these endeavors.
Fourth, I just wanted to wish everyone best wishes in the coming years, which will be challenging for everyone in higher education. I have thoroughly enjoyed our collaborations, conversations, and journal clubs with you over the last 8 years.
If anyone needs anything moving forward, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Ben
