Hi Rubyist,

We are back to our Ruby Meetup, and this month we have an experienced Rubyist who has been working on Ruby for years and also work on some open source projects as well. This Saturday, he would like to come and share with us about best practices and tips on builing an real open source project that is interacted with SMS system.

DateTime  : 9th March @ 2PM
Presenter : Channa Ly (@channaly), Senior Software Developer @ InSTEDD iLab Southeast Asia

Referral system https://bitbucket.org/lychannainf/referral-system is a web base application with SMS capability using InSTEDD nuntium messaging plateform. It is an extension on top of Malaria day cero MDO project https://bitbucket.org/lychannainf/malaria-consortium .  It is being developed for Malaria consortium and will be implemented in most cambodian provinces that have affected malaria cases the most(kampong cham, kompot, ...).

It is a small project(from Jan to mid of March). Even it is small but I find it is very interesting to show since I experienced many problems with rails as well as ruby in this project that I have not met in my other  rails app.

I would like to share these problems with everyone in the meet up.

Highlight feature in Referral system:
   - simple dynamic message parser
   - validate field dinamically
   - jquery compatibility
   - customizable error message for sms, validation.
   - tdd ( of course we need tdd since we are interacting with sms, no real message will be sent then no charge we pay for telcom), and a few more .

ps: referral system is an open source

Thanks,
Samnang
