Pail is an Android app that backs up your phone photos and videos to a bucket you own (Backblaze B2 and other S3-compatible storage). There is no Pail server and no account: the bucket is the account.
This group is how you get access to the closed test on Google Play.
HOW TO INSTALL1. Make sure you have joined this group. You must be a member to get the test link.
2. Open the Play Store testing link:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.photo.pail3. Tap "Become a tester" (or "Join the test"), then tap "Download it on Google Play".
4. Install Pail from the Play Store page that opens.
Use the same Google account to join this group, open the link, and install. That is the account signed in on your phone's Play Store.
If the link says the app is not available:
- Check you joined this group with the account signed in on your phone.
- Wait a few minutes after joining, then try again.
- Make sure you are opening the link on the phone, or in a browser signed in to that account.
- Searching for "Pail" in the Play Store will not find it during the closed test. Use the link.
SETTING UP YOUR STORAGEPail asks which provider holds your bucket, then walks you through it and tests the connection before you continue. For Backblaze B2 you need:
- a bucket
- an application key (key ID and application key) with access to that bucket
- the bucket's endpoint and region, shown on the bucket's page in the B2 console
Keep your application key private. Pail stores it on your phone, not on any server of ours.
REPORTING PROBLEMSReply in this group, or post in the thread you started. It helps a lot to include:
- your phone model and Android version
- your storage provider (for example Backblaze B2)
- what you did, what you expected, and what happened
- a screenshot if there is one
Please do not post your application key or bucket credentials anywhere, including in screenshots.
Thanks for testing.
