I am quite interested in the position at the front desk of a hotel, so
the five questions I will give would as follows:
1. What do you think is the biggest challenge for you to work here?
==> Facing different kinds of people from all over the world everyday
with various unexpected incidents is a great challenge for me, I
think.
2. Someone said that having good language skills is very important for
someone who want to perform well in a hotel, is that true?
==> Yeah, I agree. But I think that having a wide-scope knowledge is
important as well. If you can tell a foreign guest where the washroom
is, you are also expected to direct him to the nearest best cinema and
tells him what's on with a fluent English.
3. It is said that interpersonal relationship at work is more
complicated than the relationship with cusomers, what do you think?
==> Well, you have thrown me a really complicated question. You know
things like love understands love, it needs no talk. I think it's hard
to say, and it depends. But one thing I am quite sure is that just be
yourself nomatter how others treat you. For the customer in the hotel,
you are the professional person who serves them to meet their needs
and satisfy them, which is your duty. And for your workmates you are
just part of the team, someone likes flattering while someone prefers
to work silencely, who knows, there is no standard judgement, right?
4. Since you have worked at the front office for years, can you give
me some idea about what you would probably do if one of your guests
calls you in the early morning and complains about a leak in the
ceiling of his room. He is very upset and demands that you handle the
situation immediately?
==>Well, firstly, I will immediately go up to his room to check on the
situation personally. And then I would formally apologize to him and
help him change to a different room, preferably upgrading his room to
a suite and present him some meal coupons or a fruit basket to show
our apologize again. After the guest has settled down in the new room,
I will call housekeeping to have the leaking room taken care of as
soon as I could.
5. What do you often do after work?
==> I often feel totally exhausted after work, not only physically but
spiritually as well. So I tell myself, I will only think of me from
this moment, going to the movie or doing some sports, or even cooking
would be decent choices.
