Dear Ben,

I have just decided to further my education here in PaiChai, also as a
major student in Hotel Convention Management.
Purposes for doing this are, one is to obtain a high level certificate
of the profession and the other is to get my language skills improved.
You know, I have been learning English for more than 10 years, but
because of the discontinuity I think that my Korean language skill
that I have learned only for 3 years is even a little bit better than
English, oral speaking at least. So I need to improve my English,
which seems extraordinarily important in the Hotel industry through
continuous study.
Even if I have got perfect language skills of both English and Korean,
to be frank, I am still not sure about being a good hotelier after
graduation. Maybe I will be teaching foreign languages by the time I
graduate.
Someone may think that being able to make a lot of money could be an
ideal job. For me, of course, it could be, to some extent. But what is
more important is the interest, I think that is the very one will
motivate me to entirely devote myself to the job I am undertaking, and
accomplish self-fulfillment by having fun with that at the same time.
So my ideal job is absolutely not a tool to survive but a career to
enjoy.

Ben~

My major is Hotel Convention Management.
I want to work at airport industry when I graduate from PaiChai. I
need to study a lot. What I have to learn to be a airport service
person is acquiring foreign languages such as English, Japanese and
Chinese.
I need to know everything and I should read newspapers and books and
know whats happening to the world.
It's important whether I get a kick out of my job. it also keeps me
motivated.
I should keep trying to be a service person and I'm sure that it will
be hard.
However, I believe that I will get a good result if I overcome the
difficulties.
I will try hard and be the best as i can be.

After I graduate shcool, I'm planning to work at a bank as a financial
planner.
My major is hotel&convention management, which means, i guess it's
gonna be a little harder than people who studied business
administrations.
So I have been studying to get a financial planner license during the
school days. actually the test day is coming. it is 7th of December.
After getting it, I will get another one by the end of next semester,
then I will be ready to be a financial planner when I apply.
The thing I have learned by studing hotel&convention management are
service mind and communication skills. I hope them make more qualified
banker.
The most important thing as a financial planner is to have honesty
which my parents have tought me all the time.
I really hope to be a financial planner.

Hi~Ben how are you?
I'm gonna tell you something that you asked.
I consider my ideal job which want to do.
Actually,my major is hotel management so I want to work regarding
major, espeacially in hotel in sales department.
As you know I enjoy speaking English, I practiced a lot to skeak
English very well,
I know still not enough to using it, as a foreigner to learn another
language is very hard.
So I try to study hard. The hotel prefer person who has experience. I
have an experience in hotel.
I worked in hotel located in another country.
So I'm sure that better than any other people.at least work in hotel.
that's why I went to there.
I worked in banquet department,so I can understand how to deal with
customers.
I have service mind, Customers said that I'm very kind.
So If I work in hotel I'll do my work succesfully. most important
thing in my work.
Everything is same that is service mind. because hospitality industry
can not explains without service.

When I graduate from Paichai, I hope to work at Sports industry as I
told you before.
But I didn't hope to work at Sports industry first time.
When I was graduated from high school I hope to be a tourguide so I
admitted to this Paichai tourism course.
But the more I study it, the more changed my mind.
Maybe I had dreamed only sunny side of travel.
Then one day, I had a chance to watch a basketball game in Jeon-ju.
(Now Jeon-ju supports the KCC-egis(one of Korean pro basketball league
team).
But it was Daejeon's hometeam almost 10years ago.)
Anyway when I watched the game,
I really like an atmosphere that people exchange yells and shout a
victory.
Also I hope to make such an atmosphere of people really enjoy.
Taking this opportunity I also went to volleyball stadium and
baseball parks.
And it made me big fan of baseball.
That time I've started to study about Sports management,
and I want to know more about real baseball industry so l start to
work for Eagles.
Now 08season is finished, so my part time job is also finished.
It was really good experience during undergraduate.

★Congratulation. The Phillies win the series. ^^

I think most of the seniors consider future like me because the it is
getting hard to have a job.
Not after, before my university graduation I hope to make tour
programs and packages at a travel agency. I have been dreaming it
since I was a high school student.
To becaome a tour consultant, I choose Tourism management as my major
and I traveled several countries. Besides I have been tring to speak
Englsih.
through my several travel experience, I became a person who tried to
understand other cultures without any perceptions.
I thought they would help me enter a travel agent. Unfortunately, oil
shock has reduced international travel. In common with a lot of
business, travel fields are also in an economic recession. There is
any recruits in large travel agents.
although it is hard to get a jon in travel business, I hope to do it
and I will try continuously.
I belive that I will be making a lot of tour programs as an expert in
5years

The hotel, 'Hilton', was the one I was waiting for a long time.
After I graduate shcool, I want to work at Hilton hotel as a
Hotelier.
Since I was working for the project in my class about Hilton hotel a
few years ago,
I've prepared to get a job there.
However, I was so disappointed because it didn't work out.
I think I need to study a lot.
So I've been preparing to try again with traveling other countries
to study English and experience culture.
I had a chance to stay Hilton hotel at Bangkok, Thailand
and it was the best service I've ever had.
It gave me more motivation to work for the hotel, Hilton.

mind,
warm heart and strength of body. Also should have swimming skill.

Hi, Ben. Recentely I have lots of thought about my future job.
For a year, I've been working as an English teacher in a private
school but I decided to quit this job.
What is the problem is I don't know about me.
For example, what I want or what I like.
Because of it, I'm so hesitative when I try to apply a job.
a few days my sister gave me some advice
that I must be a representative even though I'm just a emploee.
I'm going to apply for a room clerk in a hotel.
English and the second languages are the essential condition.
So, I'll spent time to learn some computer skills and service
attitude.
Room clerk or any other service job need to be considerate.
Therefore, I'm going to try to have more understanding and sociality.

Jeong-Hee,

I think one of the most important factors in learning anything is
having a NEED to learn it. Learning tends to happen when it the
material you are trying to learn is relevant. After my many years of
both studying and working I can say with confidence that I've learned
more as an employee than I did as a student. This is because it was
relevant. It sounds as though you are setting yourself up to learn a
lot if you can land an airport service job. Good luck!

Se-Min,

I can fully understand where you are coming from. My career path also
veered from my undergraduate studies. However, you sound very
confident about what it is you want to do. In my eyes, you are in a
sense a double major, having now been studying for your financial
planner license while also completing your degree in Hotel and
Convention Management. At least you know that if you don't like
working the financial planner industry you can always fall back on
your knowledge of the hotel management field. Good luck with whatever
you do!

Sung-bu,

Speaking from experience, I think you will truly enjoy living and
working in another country if you do in fact decide to do so. Living
and working in Korea has been good to me. It sounds as though you have
a good plan for yourself. I hope it all works out!

Sung-Hee,

As a huge sports fan myself I have to say that I think you are setting
yourself up for a wonderfully enjoyable career. I know well the
atmosphere you are talking about at a stadium or a basketball arena.
I haven't been to a game in awhile but next weekend I will head to
Seoul to see the KBL's Knights play against the Pusan team. I can't
wait! I've been to one Hanwa Eagles games before and what a great
time that was! I'll have to keep in touch with you to find out when
the Eagles are having any special events! Good luck!

P.S. thanks for the Phillies congrats :)

Kyu-Min,

Take a look at some of the websites I posted on last week's Tour
Industry notes. They may be able to help you put together some decent
tour packages. Even if not, they are good references for anyone in the
business. I'll have to keep in touch with you so that I can buy a
nice package tour for a vacation sometime! :) Good luck!

You are certainly setting a high bar for yourself by aiming at working
for Hilton. Indeed, it is one the most respected chains in the
industry. Keep studying hard. I'm confident you'll achieve your dream

I love this post! You are talking about the importance of swimming for
the job of flight attendant. Not exactly what comes to mind when I
think of skills required of flight attendants. :) However, I know
exactly what you mean. It is important for flight attendants to take
care of themselves. For sure, having nice looking flight attendants
helps keep paying customers choosing that airline. More so, having
healthy flight attendants is essential to carrying out their in flight
routines, and also recovering quickly from jet lag in order to fly
again and keep up with the demands and rigors of the job. Good luck
with your interviews! I have created an interview blog for one of my
other classes but you are welcome to take a look if you like. Ask me
in class if you'd like to know the web address! :)

Ji-Sook,

I can fully understand how you are unsure of what career path to
choose for yourself. I didn't choose my career at all. I think it
really chose me! I floated along for awhile before realizing how much
I enjoyed teaching as much as I do. What I can say is no matter what
work you decide to do, try to find a way to take your past experiences
and studies with you in your current work. As a former teacher, you
were in a position of leadership in the classroom. Perhaps you are
comfortable in that role. Maybe you could be a corporate trainer in a
hotel and work to train some of the staff. Of course, getting your
foot in the door is the first step. :) Regardless, keep exploring
possibilities for yourself. I'm sure you'll find the right career.
Or, it will find you! Good luck!

I already got a job. :)
It's travel agency for doctors who want to attend medical conferences
all over the world.
I'm so happy because I cought the chance early and it was my future
job.
I've been studing about tourism until now.
I also have studied about CRS for airline companies and hotel as well.
English skill also very important to get a job. i did a English
interview when I was interviewed. Especially for us the ability is
very important. Because we have to contact with people who are living
out of Korea often.
My job is connected with many convertions about medical science.
I heard many cuxtomers of my company are very meticulous and luxurius,
so I need to look smart.
That is why my company has strict rules.
I'd wanted to work for a travel agency or a PCO from when I admit a
university. I've concerned it by 3weeks ago.
When I was wondering abou it, I heard that The Medical Travel was
looking for some new employees.
It was very good opportunities for me, because I could work for
travelers and convention participants.
Also economic state of the company was good. I could trust them.
I didn't hestitate to apply for them.
Then I had passed selection of candidates by examining my personal
histories, then I have had a job interview.
I sung a song.
I only got some certificates and some job experiences of a hotel, a
travel agency and some conventions.
I don't have any thing which isn't conneted with tourism.
Every morning I've told my self.
"I can do it! I already did it."
I reckon It makes me more positively and give me energy.

Finally, I'm working for the Medical Travel and I have to attend a
lecture for new employees just now. I'm in office now.
I got a job, but I'll strive more for my future.
