I'm having problems with the visualization on the windows media player legacy. it works for the first song but when it goes to the next song the visualization freezes up, but you can hear it still playing. it is set on alchemy, random for the music visualization.

@stephenmendoza1 I assume you meant to post this under the Windows 11 area, so I'm moving your comment there. Your comment did not seem to apply to a July 10th 2020 blog post without any content related to Windows Media Player, which is where it appeared.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I understand that Microsoft discontinued Binder in XP, but if you had a binder 2000 document (.obd) file on an XP computer, would the Icon be like an XP style one, the same as the Win 2000 one or one of those 'placeholder' white icons? I await your response eagerly. 95jb14 (talk) 19:16, 2 December 2009 (UTC).[reply]

The image file:Aero.svg is used as the logo of Windows Aero. I can't find any place where that logo is used by Microsoft. Also the image seems to be a user made released under GNU GPL so that doesn't add up for a Microsoft Logo as a Microsoft logo would be copyrighted. Is that an actual logo and should it be in the article? --Chris Ssk talk 09:31, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is to notify members of this WikiProject, within which scope this article falls, that VGASAVE, has been listed for deletion. Editors interested in the deletion discussion, are invited to participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/VGASAVE (2nd nomination). Thank you. - Ahunt (talk) 11:36, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Articles tagged using WikiProject Microsoft Windows will retain their Windows importance, but will no longer get assigned a general computing importance unless one is provided explicitly using computing-importance=.

When assessing articles for the Windows project, please consider the computing importance and tag accordingly. For articles which also have a WikiProject Computing banner, its importance= must match the Windows computing-importance=.

I support a "big tent" interpretation of this project's scope because it exposes Windows-oriented editors who follow this project to all articles related to encyclopedic coverage of Windows. Computing coverage benefits, as does the encyclopedia as a whole. --Pnm (talk) 02:20, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This may of interest to some members here; I have proposed this article for deletion due to serious WP:SYNTH and WP:OR reasons. If you wish please comment on the deletion discussions. cheers. IRWolfie- (talk) 16:17, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have challenged the decision to award this article FA status over what I allege is a lack of balance and neutrality in the article. Fresh opinions and input are encouraged here. Quantumsilverfish (talk) 01:39, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is Windows 3.1 a bona fide operating system or is it a Graphical user interface or Operating system shell? It seems to me that MS-DOS was the actual operating system. DOS was required to run the computer, the job of the operating system. You could run DOS without Windows 3.1 but you could not run Windows 3.1 without DOS. You could exit out of Windows and get back to DOS. You could not exit out of DOS. You could start Windows 3.1 from the DOS operating system by typing "win" to run the program win.exe. I'd like to introduce the Template:Version template to Wikipedia with the goal to establish one standard for version history tables (or lists). It simplifies creation of release histories, standardizes release stages and makes the content more accessible. Please comment on the template talk page (there already is some discussion). Thanks for your contribution. Jesus Presley (talk) 07:07, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is a dispute at Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard#Problematic_closure_of_deletion_request_after_one_day over the image File:Windows_logo_and_watermark_-_1985.svg. This image was used in a Windows blog in 2012 but the earliest use of it I can find is in 2010 and not by Microsoft. If someone can find a use before 2010 somewhere and preferably in 1985 then the matter can drop otherwise there is a problem about people arguing as I see it that policies trump common sense. A proposal for a WikiProject Apps has been made at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Apps. As WikiProject Microsoft Windows is a related WikiProject, members of this WikiProject are invited to join the discussion. Thank you. XapApp (talk) 02:31, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Windows 5.0 (disambiguation) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Windows 5.0 (disambiguation) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Codename Lisa (talk) 19:49, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is currently a dispute on the Windows XP page about whether to include migration to Linux as an option for dealing with the end of support for Windows XP. In an effort to gain input from interested editors I am posting this notice on both Wikipedia:WikiProject_Microsoft_Windows and Wikipedia:WikiProject_Linux.

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

It was proposed back in 2010 that the Interix article be merged into Windows Services for UNIX. Discussion ended mid-2011 with a consensus for no merge, but was never closed, leading a different editor (uninvolved in the original discussion) to reopen discussion. I'd like some more uninvolved editors to take a look at the articles and participate in the merger discussion so we can establish whether or not consensus has changed in the past three and a half years. // coldacid (talkcontrib) 17:12, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. There is a small dispute in Talk:Windows thumbnail cache EXIF thumbnails that I was hoping someone could help with. Hopefully, it is not serious. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 16:21, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Microsoft uses the Windows Me spelling. This is the most common spelling and PC World also uses it. Googling "windows me" on any search engine reveals that Windows Me is more common than Windows ME. Should the Wikipedia Windows ME article be moved to Windows Millennium Edition? Should the article use the Windows Me spelling? Maria Kappatou (talk) 05:28, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am currently in the process of reviewing the article - Windows Ultimate Extras for the Good Article status. The review discussion is taking place at Talk:Windows Ultimate Extras/GA1. Interested members may join the discussion and improve the article as per the concerns raised there. Thank you! Yashovardhan (talk) 05:56, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
