Kudos to Ed Furtaw, who completed nearly 123 miles in 48 hours on the 1.0498 mile loop during Running Across the Years in Phoenix, Arizona, December 30 through January 1.  Way to go, Ed!

Thanks Roger, Kenny, and Jeff.

I had a fun time at Across The Years, although I didn't go as far as I had hoped.  The weather and course conditions were great - it was like a summer vacation!

I had minor foot pains but not the major problem that has been bothering my left foot lately.  The minor problems I had were related to shoes that aren't wide enough in the toe area.  My pinkie toes got sore and will lose toenails due to rubbing on the sides of the shoes.  I am looking into ways to stretch my shoes at the pressure points.

Happy New Year to all!
Ed

What shoes were you wearing?

Please join me in congratulating our own Ed Furtaw who completed two loops (nominally 40 miles) at the 2012 Barkley Marathons in 29 hours, 11 minutes ending, appropriately enough, on April Fools Day.  That is one fine achievement!

Here's a link to a nice photo of Gail and Ed before the race:

There are before/after pictures of many of the Barkley Runners here:

Unlike the other runners, Ed is smiling in the post-race picture.
