is ssl make site slower ?

Hello,

i changed my site from http to https but my load page time was First Contentful Paint (FCP) 2 s but now with https is 4.8 s

where is the problem ? https can make site slower ? what i have to do

Yes, SSL has a negative impact on performance, though how much varies a lot with infrastructure, number of requests, etc. and the version of TLS implemented (TLS 1.3 is much faster)

My hosting has free ssl , i test my site from here https://www.ssllabs.com but it will show it use tls 1.0 , 1.1 , 1.2 & 1.3 if i want be faster must just using only TLS 1.3 ? i really didnt undrestand what i have to do

and is there any way to active HSTS just for main domin ? like exampl.com not sub domains ?
