Hi,

We have a website and we've done the best we can to increase our Page Speed using the Lighthouse tool. We've optimized every image to be pixel perfect for the device size, compressed all CSS and JS that we could and even changed gradient images to pure CSS gradients with clippings. There isn't a ton of Javascript on our pages except jQuery of course, a few widgets, etc. ... After doing some testing and realizing our abysmal score is because of GOOGLE ADS

It took off exactly 50 points, that's more than serving images 5x the size they could be and having pages 6x the size!

Anyone looking to improve their score, it's surprising you should disable Google Ads first! Next up I'll try Analytics.

Lazy load the ads. Bind their load e.g. to first scroll event. Since you didn't stick them into the above-the-fold content, this changes visually nothing - and why should you load them at all if no one scrolls down?

The best,
Frank
