Hi
I am wondering if someone can help me, as I have spent days going from forum to forum looking for answers, and not yet come up with anything.
As I run WordPress, I already use the EWWW Image Optimizer plugin to compress my images, which tells me they cannot be compressed anymore (I have also used this plugin to remove all meta data, etc). So, I noticed Google gives a link to download the optimised images, which I have done and then uploaded to the correct locations via FTP. After re-running the speed test, no changes are picked up. To take things further, I managed to find another online compression tool and managed to further reduce the size of the images that Google claim to have already optimised. Again, I re-uploaded the images but the test still doesn't seem to pick up the changes.
As an example, the speed test shows this:
However, I have managed to losslessly compress this image from 72kb down to 36kb, but this same error keeps showing. When I click on the link again to download Google's compressed versions, they are still at the old, larger size.
It therefore seems to me that Google's pagespeed insights is not picking up image changes, no matter how much I compress them. Has anyone else experienced this? I am wondering if this issue is WordPress related...
Thanks
Michael
