Hi there,

I'm trying to use the page speed insights tool for my client, Smirnoff (vodka), which has an age-gate on their website to ensure users are of legal drinking age.

It appears that even after I enter in the URL I want to use (http://www.smirnoff.com/en-us/vodka-drinks/summer-drinks/) the tool is getting stuck at the age gate (https://screenshot.googleplex.com/8wHBr1jZyLo). Has anyone run into this issue before? Is there a work-around to have the insights evaluate the page we need, opposed to the age-gate?

Thanks so much,
Erin

The best thing to do would be have a query parameter, either hard to guess or just descriptive, that would bypass the age-gate. Beyond that (or detecting pagespeed executing somehow and allowing just it to pass through) there is nothing that can be done. Pagespeed simply checks against the URL given and what it is given, it doesn't do any form filling to get through hoops.

Create a sample test page similar to what you want.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not quite sure I understand...How would I create a sample test page? The tool simply needs a URL to evalute, correct?

Thanks,
Erin

Hi Erin,

You can ask your client to copy all the HTML content from the logged version and place it into a test.html page and there you will see all the actual errors (both client and server side).

Regards.
