Ever since I upgraded to the recent new version of Logic, I've encountered this issue where software instruments with multiple MIDI channels (e.g. Omnisphere) only respond to MIDI channel 1. I start out by creating an instrument track, switching it to MIDI channel 1 in the inspector, then trigger the "create track with next MIDI channel" command. The channels are being assigned consecutively correctly, but the instrument only responds on channel 1.
It seems our output silence/vst scrambling issue is related to the most recent Omnisphere update. This release was early June. I've since loaded an old dll of Omnisphere from January (not ideal) and this works.
Whether the latest update to Cakewalk has made the Omnisphere dll unstable is unknown. Its only when I went back to a project pre-June Omnisphere release did I realise that there was an issue. I cant confirm though if this affects projects that use Trilian or Stylus RMX yet.
We posted a new early access installer that includes a fix for this issue. @bitflipper @Andres Medina please try this out and let me know if this addresses the issues with I/O's getting changed unexpectedly.
AFIK the problem was only localized to track inputs when loading a synth that changes its outputs. Let me know if you still see problems with this fix.
I started with the three four most complex songs, and I have to say, after a little learning curve, I can realize everything with Gig Perfomer after only a couple of days, what I was able to do with Forte after years of experience, only. And even more like smooth transitions between songs with persistence on.
My key rig consists of a Korg Wavestation (*1992), now used as a master keyboard only, and a Roland Edirol PCR-300 controller keyboard on top. I have two of each, one rig for the home studio, and one rig for band rehearsal and tour. Sound interface is a RME Babyface Pro running at 96 samples @ 44,1kHz. More on latency and jitter later For monitoring I love my Sennheiser HD650 phones, with some EQing in the Babyface.
My new laptop is a Clevo PB51DDS i7-10875 32GB RAM 2x 1TB SSD gaming machine, needing some tweaks and testing for good audio performance at very low fan noise.
Iris I have not updated or tested and is still listed on the VST2 only list for my libraries. Until I get a chance to test/update assume it is VST2 only at the moment. In saying that tho, if you are selecting the plugin direct from the plugin list to load and it is crashing KK, that is a plugin/KK/OS issue and if you are on mac, that pretty sems pretty usual at the moment.
So my question is about not having audio playback for an Instrument Track in Studio One, only when using the Yamaha VST. I attached a prntscrn and hope that someone can give an answer or a hint in the good direction.
Thanks a lot for all the input. Have been busy to investigate all mentioned options and information. My conclusion till now is that most probably having no audio output (only) in the Yamaha VST has to do with the Steinberg driver. This driver sure works for Cubase and give audio outputs there for the Yamaha VST, but not in Studio One. It goes beyond my knowledge if it is possible to connect such a driver to Studio One.
I did a simple ident using the omnisphere guitar and string pad, simple but nice and warm

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
As a hip hop producer and writer myself, this is my go to for mixing and mastering. Easy to talk with, very understanding, amazing at his job, gives construction criticism, prices are amazing, and my tracks always sound the way i imagine them, this is the only place ill go to get my tracks and albums mixed thank you to my man sergio! -Caution
