New York is still recovering from Hurricane Sandy.

Tell Speaker Boehner to bring the Sandy relief bill up for a vote now!

Last night, House Republican leadership scrapped a much-needed $60 billion Hurricane Sandy relief bill. At the last minute. With no explanation.

Speaker Boehner is meeting with Representatives from the region this afternoon, and he's feeling the heat. Members of Congress are outraged -- even die-hard Republicans.

Sign our emergency petition to urge Speaker Boehner to bring the Sandy relief bill up for a vote.

Staten Island Republican Michael Grimm says he might not vote to keep John Boehner as Speaker. [1] Long Island Republican Peter King says that "anyone from New York and New Jersey who contributes one penny to Congressional Republicans is out of their mind." [2]

It's good to see these Republicans speaking out against their leadership's failings, because it puts real pressure on Speaker Boehner to do the right thing. But this isn't about politics -- it's about the people who need help. Congress must pass the Hurricane Sandy relief bill right away, before the Congressional session ends Thursday at noon.

This bill will help repair thousands of homes in New York and across the region. It will rebuild damaged roads and bridges. And it will help displaced families get their lives back together.

Disaster relief is the federal government's responsibility, whether the disaster happens in New York or New Orleans. It's time Congress acted responsibly.

Sign the emergency petition now and demand Hurricane Sandy relief.
