Hello All

Hopefully I can get a little more help before the list shuts down.

I got in issue with the Pads to Altium conversion  that we can’t seem to figure out.

I Started a design in Pads (5.0) sent to customer so they could place a part of the board. They sent me back an Pads 5.0 asc file that they made from Altium to Pads.

When I load the asc file in the pin numbers are all screwed up. For example I got a soic16/ 1 thru 8 on 1 side 9 thru 16 on the other just the way it should be, but the part I get back has changes the pin numbers to a alphanumeric without the alpha part, and reassigned a new pin number to the pin.

Not a big deal as long as I don’t have to make any netlist changes. But once I load in a new netlist or do a compare the whole board goes right down the drain. All the nets move to the new pin number instead of a alphanumeric.

How do I get the file back from Altium to Pads without it changing the pin numbers?

When I check the pins I sent them it will be listed as U25,1,U. I get back a U25.1.L, does the U to L make a difference?

Is there a way to update the parts to the library part without Pads defaulting to the part that is on the board? (this would take forever)

Thanks,

Gene

Not an answer, but...
I had a pin number swapping issue when ASCI-ing out to PADS 5.x from PADS 9.2 database.
My point being 5.x PADS may not be as robust as it should with "translators" and such...?
