One of the guys here got a new computer and wants to install PADS 2007 on it.  The only thing we have for 2007 is "PADS2007.4update3", whatever that is.  We ARE on maintenance, but all I could find on the Mentor Graphics site is PADS 9.0.  This guy doesn't trust 9.0, plus the libraries are not compatible.  I am currently running 2007 myself, but I couldn't find an install file for it on any of our network drives.  We looked for a CD but only found a PADS 2003 disc.  Apparently we've been updating since then.

Is there a way to download PADS 2007?

It is available on the website. There is an option under download to load older versions.

Hi Cliff,

If you are on maintenance, why not call/email support and ask them for it?

I tried running this and now my 2007.2 doesn't work. It says it can't find
SDDFlowID.dll. I'm searching for it right now...

I couldn't find a link on the web site. I looked before posting here and
looked some more afterwards but couldn't find anything but 9.0.

It should be here:

C:\MentorGraphics\[your version]\SDD_HOME\common\win32\lib

but you might need to check your “PATH” in the environment variable settings.

Is that error coming up in PADS, or Dx? If it's the latter, you may
have to run the MGC Configurator to get you pack to 2007.2

For PADS2007x and PADS9.0 you need to run the MGC SDD Configurator to switch between the PADS releases.
PADS2005x does not require this.
It is located at: C:\MentorGraphics\win32\configurator.exe

I finally found it. That's a pretty obscure way to get there.

Now I can't install the updates because it says my PATH is too long. I
shortened it and got other errors. Looks like I'm stuck with 2007.2
forever...

I run several versions.

I’ve never used the configurator.

I just have a different icon for each version.

Not sure which version incorporated the configurator but you can have separate icons but there are some files that are common to all versions and can cause problems using different versions. The configurator  allows you to switch between versions. And yes I agree why can’t each version be a separate entity ?

They made them separate entities in V9.  I now have V9.0 installed and V9.0.2 installed as two separate programs; I never use the former.  The only problem I see switching back and forth (different icons) between 2005sp2 and 9.0.2 is that sometimes the tool bars pop up by themselves; annoying but at least it still runs.

I always use the default install location.

I'm trying to install the 2007.4 update 3.

First it tells me that it can't find a bunch of files ending in .FNT. I
figure they're font files and I don't care, so I continue.

Then it tells me that it can't find the installation script:
C:\MentorGraphics\2007.4PADS\SDD_HOME\pads\win32\post_install_script.bat

Then it tells me that it can't find the installation script:
C:\MentorGraphics\2007.4PADS\SDD_HOME\doc_utils\win32\post_install_script.ba
t

Then I get this message (paraphrased):

The system path length has to be less than 2047, and the user path is
limited to 511 characters, but must be 2047 minus the system path. The
attempted PATH length is: 960. You must reduce the size of the user or

Then I get a message from the Configurator: An error occurred while setting
MGC_HOME. It aborts here. I don't really care about the configurator. I
have the default set to 2007 and I have a SendTo for version 9.0.

I now have a C:\MentorGraphics\2007.4PADS folder, but it's mostly empty.

I have a recollection that Windows installs files in a temp directory and
then copies them to their final location. Apparently the copying part isn't
happening.

C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;%CDSROOT%\tools\bin;%CDSROOT%\tools\fet\bin;%CDSROOT%\tools\Capture;C:\MentorGraphics\9.0.1PADS\SDD_HOME\common\win32\bin;C:\MentorGraphics\9.0.1PADS\SDD_HOME\common\win32\lib;C:\WinAVR\bin;C:\WinAVR\utils\bin;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\;C:/MentorGraphics/9.0.1PADS/MGC_HOME.ixn/bin;C:/MentorGraphics/9.0.1PADS/MGC_HOME.ixn/lib;C:\MentorGraphics\9.0.1PADS\MGC_HOME.ixn\bin;C:\MentorGraphics\9.0.1PADS\MGC_HOME.ixn\lib;C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools\WinNT;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\MSDev98\Bin;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\bin

Here is my System Path:

C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\WinAVR\bin;C:\WinAVR\utils\bin;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files\Autodesk\DWG TrueView\;C:/MentorGraphics/9.0.1PADS/MGC_HOME.ixn/bin;C:/MentorGraphics/9.0.1PADS/MGC_HOME.ixn/lib;C:\MentorGraphics\9.0.1PADS\MGC_HOME.ixn\bin;C:\MentorGraphics\9.0.1PADS\MGC_HOME.ixn\lib;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools\WinNT;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\MSDev98\Bin;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\bin;C:\Program Files\Support Tools\;%CDSROOT%\tools\pcb\bin;%CDSROOT%\tools\fet\bin;%CDSROOT%\tools\specctra\bin;%CDSROOT%\tools\PSpice;%CDSROOT%\tools\PSpice\Library;%CDSROOT%\tools\Capture;%CDSROOT%\tools\bin;C:\Program Files\Intel\DMIX;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;

Then I get a message from the Configurator: An error occurred while setting MGC_HOME.  It aborts here.  I don't really care about the configurator.  I have the default set to 2007 and I have a SendTo for version 9.0.

I now have a C:\MentorGraphics\2007.4PADS folder, but it's mostly empty.

I have a recollection that Windows installs files in a temp directory and then copies them to their final location.  Apparently the copying part isn't happening.

I finally found it.  That's a pretty obscure way to get there.

Now I can't install the updates because it says my PATH is too long.  I shortened it and got other errors.  Looks like I'm stuck with 2007.2 forever...

I tried running this and now my 2007.2 doesn't work.  It says it can't find SDDFlowID.dll.  I'm searching for it right now...

I couldn't find a link on the web site.  I looked before posting here and looked some more afterwards but couldn't find anything but 9.0.

It is available on the website. There is an option under download to load older versions.

Subject: Download PADS 2007?

Say it isn’t so!!! An update that’s not a full install? What a concept.
