Hi, I was wondering if anyone had paddled the Hartman-Flat Lakes-Island Lake route accessed from the Lays Lake Rd in recent years and could comment on the state of the portages etc?

Hi Steve,

I paddled in to Flat Lakes from Oyster pond a few years ago - I believe it was November 2022.

Oyster Pond - Moose Cove Lake - Skull Lake - Skull Lake Pond - Mud Lake - Moose Lake - Fishing Lake - Hartman Lake - Flat Lakes

I don't seem to have written a trip report for that trip, but at the time the portages were fairly recently cut out (or re-established). Portage trails were easy to follow. I made it as far as the Flat Lakes before running out of time on day one. I only had two days, so I camped on the Flat Lakes, then canoed out the same way on day 2.
