_____________________________________________________________________________
Jan. 31 Allain's Creek just beside Annapolis Royal launched by bridge and paddled up to head of tide. Paddling among icebergs. Beautiful. Cold. Mostly calm. But "outside" in main Basin, too much wind.
Feb. 12 Bear River around the village launched at firehall and explored the buildings on stilts and went up to head of tide. High water. Tide almost reaching car parked at Fire Hall when we got back.
March 11 and 13 Tripp's Lake SW Port Mouton paddled out to Crown land and camped to do 3 days of lichen surveys. First trip with the Old Town camper bought used from Fredericton and with the new Snotrekker hot tent. Paddled in rain and flurries.
March 29 Birchtown Brook Shelburne County launched from bridge on Middle Clyde Road and paddled downstream about 3km as crow flies to large oak covered hill and thanks to high water were able to reach esker and camp. Used canoe next two mornings to cross stream before hiking esker to target areas for surveying.
April 1 Birchtown Brook Shelburne County ice on river this morning for paddle out. One portage when headed upstream, that we ran coming down
April 27, 28 Musquash Annapolis County paddled up this 2k stillwater, lovely rock outcrop camp site at end of stillwater. Gray jays. Horrible fishing. Don’t even bother.
May 20 French Clearwater Lake, Tusket took part in “sea trials” for Wayne Doucette’s big boat he built for SWPA. Fun fast night!
May 27, 28, 30 Kejimkujik Lake first trips with the Big Boat in the dark, researching for our summer dark sky paddle program. Yes we went aground a couple times. Paddlers were fellow interpreters from across Canada here for a weeklong summit on Indigenous Interpretation.
June 18 Kejimkujik Lake paddled out to site 12, Ritchie Island for another night of interpretation training and memorizing the constellations. June 19 did CBC interview from the canoe :P
July 2 Annapolis Basin Smiths Cove to see the phosphorescence - more night paddling - launched from Bear River highway bridge - calm warm magical night
Aug. 2 Kejimkujik Lake paddled across the lake and up the West River to stay at site 22 and explore the trail leading north towards Liberty Lake
Aug. 8 Kejimkujik Lake Perseids - saw soo many shooting stars, a fireball, plus the Elon Musk skytrain with 23 satellites - magical night on the water
Aug. 31 and Sept 1 Kejimkujik Lake Southwest Paddlers had their new Big Boat in the park and we made a couple trips around the lake and dreaming of a “Brigade” at Keji…
Sept. 9 Goldsmith Lake Annapolis County friend wanted to test his newly refurbished Chestnut and we did so
Sept. 16 - 19 Lake Jolie and Sixth Lake near Bear River, Digby County volunteered with Hemlock Strike team and "commuted" every day by canoe - beautiful calm evenings on the water
Sept. 22 Pijinuiskaq (LaHave River) Bridgewater Pijinuiskaq Parade of Paddlers celebrating Bridgewater's 125th anniversary. I got to paddle one of Todd Labrador's birchbark canoes - amazing honour and fun!
Oct. 18, 19, 20 Kejimkujik Lake and Liberty Lake Paddled to site 22 again but this time walked up to Liberty Lake. On the 19th, paddled to "work" across Liberty. 20th: Paddled out again.
Nov. 29, 30 Eleven Mile Lake Annapolis County spent three days with the hot tent at Long Island. Enjoyed new thunder box and kitchen table!
Dec. 1 Eleven Mile Lake Annapolis County did more lichen surveys among the islands before paddling out
