This canoe/kayak trip is sponsored by the Nova Scotia
Department of Environment and by Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia. We plan to paddle a
short section of the gently flowing Musquodoboit River and of the meandering
Meadow Brook (a.k.a. Kelly Meadow), to be followed by a 500 m hike up a steep
portage to the outlet of Collins Lake, gateway to a rugged lake district. This
event is suitable for adults only.
We expect to also walk short sections of both the Musquodoboit
Trailway and of the North Granite Ridge Trail, both of which intersect our water
route. Participants are required to provide their own canoes or sea kayaks plus
safety gear. Dress for weather conditions. Bring lunch, drinks, insect
repellent, sunscreen, hat, and extra clothing for this all-day portage-less
trip. Estimated distance to be travelled is about 10 km.
Meet at the Railway Station Museum in Musquodoboit Harbour, on
Highway # 7, at 9:30 AM, on Saturday, May 25. Pre-register with Dusan Soudek at
