2025 year round paddler award

Good Morning Everyone, 

I hope you are each enjoying 2025 and a bunch of you have already paddled for January. 

I'm thinking of upping the challenge and trying to do an overnight canoe trip every month of the year.

A challenge will be January February and maybe March with ice.

 Two questions. 

# 1:  Anyone else interested in taking on this challenge? 

# 2:  Anyone have suggestions for places to go when most of the freshwater and even saltwater bays and inlets are frozen?

 I'm not looking for an epic paddle just something short that gets me to a sheltered spot to spend the night, and gives me a safe exit the next day.

One crossing that I usually do every winter (and already have this January), is at the Four-mile Stillwater in Annapolis county (just off Hwy 8 about 8km north of Keji). We call it Lewis Dump but MCFC has made it a trail with parking and call it 4mile stillwater. Sometimes if there’s too much snow, we dig ourselves into the snow bank on  Hwy 8 and leave the cars there.

It is a VERY short trip across the Mersey River — it has never completely frozen over in recent memory. If you’re lucky you can paddle up as far as Kempton Runs. The east side of the river is all wilderness area. Good camping ;)
