Flake Brook (Five Bridge Lakes Wilderness Area, HRM)

   This lovely little canoe route, connecting Birch Hill Lake and Hubley Big Lake, is rarely canoed, as it includes three portages  plus a haulover ledge, in little than one kilometer. Of note are the remains of an old stone dam, or perhaps of an old bridge on an abandoned alignment of the Old Halifax Road, along the second portage.  A neat place to explore the stillwaters and possibly to fish in the sunshine and the +25 C heat...
