I downloaded the binary for arm (packer_1.4.0_linux_arm.zip) and tried running it on an ARM node in a cluster, but it doesn't work.
packer --help

However I can run the same file from an X86 machine, so is the binary correct?

thanks,
Pat

What does file <packer exec> and ldd <packer exec> give you? And uname -a on your ARM host?

And are you sure you are not executing packer from cracklib? (Are you running a enterprise Linux flavor?)

bin$ ldd packer exec

packer:

not a dynamic executable

exec:

ldd: ./exec: No such file or directory

packer exec

bash: /home/<my username>/arm/bin/packer: cannot execute binary file
