Cannot try example json

I have tried to use example json from packer website. I am using CentOS minimal ISO though. I never get a SSH connection and things just timeout. Is this known, how do I get around it? I am simply not able to proceed with packer at all. I really want to use this tool for a product we are building.

I suspect this has to do something with my Ubuntu laptop. I am not sure what or maybe some qemu version on ubuntu?
