Hi,

I'm trying to build vmware packer images inside docker container (redhat 7), but I'm getting below error

Build 'vmware-iso' errored: Error starting VM: VMware error: Error: The operation was canceled

here is the full build log with debug enabled,

 Packer version : 1.0.0
VMware Workstation : 12.5.5
VMware VIX: 1.15.7

Could you guys guide me on how to fix this? and how to make it work on docker?

We have been able to build virtualbox images on docker so we wanted to do the same for vmware.

Most likely you can't run vmware workstation in a docker container. Try and run your container and enter it and create a VM manually. Does that work?

Outside of docker create a VM and volume mount it in your container and inside it run something like:
vmrun -T ws start <your-vm>.vmx nogui
