Hi all,

I want to build a CentOS 7 VM via Vmware Workstation. But it always
fails with the above error. Packers JSON and the packer.log can be
found under [1]. The specific Vmware network devices do exist:

> sudo ip a l | grep -A 1 vmnet
14: vmnet1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc
pfifo_fast state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000
link/ether 00:50:56:c0:00:01 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
15: vmnet8: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc
pfifo_fast state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000
link/ether 00:50:56:c0:00:08 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

AFAIK Packer per default uses the vmnet8 NAT device. I also was able
to manually install and run a CentOS 7 box using NAT/vmnet8. I'm
running out of ideas where to look so any help would be much appreciated.

P.S.: To the admins of this ML. I was subscribed to this ML with
another account and none of my mails got through. So I had to
subscribe with this account.

I answered my own question and didn't see it(DOH!). Both devices are
down. The installation of Vmware Workstation naturally does *not* work
with Archlinux. After I restarted Vmware with the scripts in
/etc/init.d(systemd unit files didn't work) I had the above devices up
and running.

Sry, my stupidity.

Cheers, Markus
