VirtualBox builder - prevent export

Is there a chance to completely prevent the export when doing a virtualbox (iso) build?

The use case is to just use packer to set up the box, do the provisioning and afterwards do some custom provisioning step that fetches the necessary data from within the VM. So the export at the end is not needed at all.

Basically it is not really a problem to have it, but it would save time in some CI jobs if the export simply could be omitted.

I don't think it is. Probably quite easy to implement.
