Our Den Chief, Peter Graham, has invited us to his Boy Scout Campout
and ROCKET LAUNCH coming up this month. If you are interested in
attending, please reply to Peter by January 11th.
"Invite all of the Den 6 Webelos to our January campout. Would you
please forward this email to them. It is a really fun activity. We
will be launching rockets in a big field. They can come to all or just
part of it. We just need to know who would like to go by the 11th.
Thank you for passing on this invitation.

Troop 162 is inviting Webelos from local packs to join us at our
annual Things That Go Boom campout!
Friday January 15th to Sunday January 17th
This year we are holding this popular campout at nearby Camp Ireland
with a side trip to a local farm to launch our rockets. Our troop will
be camping at Camp Ireland Friday and Saturday nights with the rocket
launch held from about 11:30pm to 3pm on Saturday. You are welcome to
join us for camping for either or both nights or just come for the day
on Saturday.
Our senior patrol leader has prepared the following schedule:
Friday evening, the scouts and parents that are planning on camping
with us will meet at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Beaverton at 6pm. Once
at Camp Ireland we'll spend the evening preparing camp, eating our
sack dinners, teaching some camping skills, and having fun.
Saturday morning we will get up at 7am and have breakfast, then get
things cleaned up. At 9:30 we'll make sack lunches and pack daypacks
for the day and at 11am we will leave for the launch site.
Visiting weblos and parents could meet us at camp Ireland before we
leave and carpool together or they can meet us at the site of the
launch. I will put links to maps for both locations below. One caution
about the launch site - it is on a farmer's property so we will need
to be careful of small animals like cats and chickens while driving in
and out.
We are scheduled to leave the launch site at 3pm and head back to camp
to prepare for dinner.
More fun, skills, and campfire Saturday night. 10pm bedtime.
Sunday morning we get up, have breakfast, take down camp, clean up,
and head out.
So, if you would like to join us just for the launch you could either
meet us at Camp Ireland and carpool or at the launch site. For the
maps below, I tried to zoom in on the maps to the locations of the
camp and where we will be launching. In the case of the launch site,
you will drive out on NW Cornelius Pass Road north of Hwy 26 and turn
left onto a farm road. We will be launching just beyond the farm house/
workshop/barn area.

Please let me know if the maps are not clear.
If you would like to come, please reply to me, Glenn Graham at
the.g...@verizon.net .
Our scouts are planning on building some rockets to hand out to any
visiting webelos so even if you are planning to just drop by for the
launch, please let me know so we have enough on hand. For those who
have their own rockets, please you let me know what motor types you
will need (or the type of kit and I can look it up). We plan to supply
motors for everyone - just need to know which types and how many (the
kits should have the info on their package or instruction sheet).
We'll also have the igniters, wadding, launch pads and controllers -
but you are welcome to bring any gear of your own if you would like
(camping chairs are nice)."
