Recruiting Night

Hello everyone. This is the first reminder to check with all of your boys to make sure that they can be there next Wednesday for the recruitment night. While I know we can't make anything mandatory this is about as close as it's going to get two needing to be there. I will be setting up starting after 3 o'clock on Wednesday to get a head start on things. Remember to remind people that the event starts at 6 p.m. so hopefully they can get there boys there before that. Stress to them that this will be a working event as they will be running stations and demonstrating things to the public. This also needs to be a full uniform event.

The first thing that I need help with if I have approximately 30 yard signs they need to have information put on them. I filled out a few yesterday and place them in yards and at the church. As I drive by them today I realized that I do not have the best handwriting and I'm sure somebody could make it look better. The sooner we can get these filled out the sooner we can get them into yards this weekend.

Also for future planning the day of the event we will have catered food to pick up at both Big Walnut Grill and fracasso pizza. If anyone has a membership to Sam's Club or Costco that can shop for utensils plates napkins cups and drinks etc. that would be great too.

Finally besides the yard signs over 800 fliers are being distributed to boys this week as well as posters being hung in the schools and announcements being made. Please encourage your boys to ask friends to come and also consider your neighbors and friends from other activities 2 included in the invite.

More to follow over the next week. Please keep an eye out for emails.

Thank you David! We have a Costco membership and can purchase plates, cups, napkins and some water bottles for the event. I can also help fill out a few yard signs. Darrell or I could come by your house tonight and get them? Let me know what time (would need to be @ or after 6:00).

Thanks Jenny!  That would be great for the signs. I can come get them from your house too...just text me whenever you want me to come get them or come on over.

David--You said you have a couple people w/ Costco membership?  Should we divvy the stuff up then among those who have memberships?   Will wait to hear back from other responders on this thread to see if anyone else wants to contribute. (I will plan to make the Costco trip on Saturday or Sunday. I am happy to do the whole run or just get a few things-whatever is needed).

I know Sara Thompson has a membership as well. The shopping list at this point will be:

Cups
Sturdy Plates
Bowls
Plasticware
Napkins

Water
Pop or juice (cheap color gallons)
Bag of salad
Dressings

The dinner will consist of pulled chicken, baked beans, and cold slaw from Big Walnut Grill. Pizza from Fracassos. ( regular and gluten free) and regular salad.

***Dessert will be campfire made donuts by the Boy Scouts***

    We have never met but I think it is time you knew I enjoy still being on your list. At age 76 I'm not skilled at using email and don't send out much but I do enjoy the incoming info from my old (35 yrs) love -Scouting. 

    I started my Scouting experience in 1980 with my son in a very active pack        247 and ended it this winter
while serving on the council committee and stuffing the FOS mailings and other envelopes. Around 1995-2000 I served as your unit commissioner so I guess that's how I was placed on your mailing list. 

    My purpose for this note is to let you know that I think you're doing a good job. Please keep up the work and keep me on your list.
