Nominally we're supposed to have the blue and gold banquet tomorrow as it is the May pack meeting. But, I don't believe I've heard of anyone organizing yet?

I'd suggest that we change the schedule:

May 11 - prep for B&G
 - check requirements
 - check for belt loops
 - check for arrows/beads
 - solicit volunteers for food/dishes
 - prepare skits or activities per den

May 18 - B&G banquet
 - move time to 6:30pm to 8:30pm
 - confirm school availability
 - get awards, belt loops, beads
 - per den skit or activity
 - award ceremonies
 - dinner

Preemptively, I'll send a message out to the parents to remind them to bring the books and check for award and progress completion prior to the meeting.

If you agree to the above schedule, we should _strongly_ encourage the parents to stay with their scouts tomorrow to help with per-den planning. No wall-flowers tomorrow!

Thoughts? Sound okay?

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Sounds good.  From kids perspective work on skits the whole meeting?  Is there a pre-ordained list of skits?  We were brand new to scouts this time last year so I don't know what prep work went into creating that list.

I plan on making bingo cards for a requirements game to help the scouts check for requirements completion. (failing having a better idea) I suspect each den will split their efforts between coming up with an activity and checking requirements.

Another possibility is to have the banquet on the 25th, the week
when we ordinarily wouldn't meet. That gives us an extra week
to prepare.

The district would like us to hold a recruiting event, and we could
do that on the 18th. This would involve a presentation during school
hours (e.g. recess) or just as school gets out, handing out flyers and
talking about scouting, and the district has people who can run that
with our help. That evening we would have a pack-style meeting
with some fun activity that new/prospective scouts could attend.

Or we could do the reverse (banquet on the 18th, recruiting night
on the 25th).

What do you think?

Well, I've already pulled the trigger on the B&G for the 18th.

Christa volunteered to run the food portion and the den leaders ack'd. Sorry if I messed up your plans. My thinking was that we needed to get things set ASAP to get the parents going.

Could we do the recruitment during the June meeting? Possibly we could set up a games day like the event early in the spring? A mini carnival kinda thing?

Jason, your thinking was correct and I'm glad you got things started.

Recruitment on June 1st sounds good, let's work on that.
I'll talk to the principal(s) and get people from the district/council
involved.

I think we should to that. I'm not sure I can attend, but I can probably
get someone from the district to help.
