Raingutter Regatta

Hey leaders.

In April, the pack event will be the raingutter regatta race. Our schedule is a little odd in March/April, so I'll recap and suggest a build day...

Mar 23 (today) - no meeting

Mar 30 - no meeting

Apr 6 - den meetings, boat build day

Apr 13 - no meeting, spring break

Apr 20 - pack meeting, regatta

The boat build is much easier than the pinewood derby. The scouts only need to assemble, decorate and clearcoat spray their boats.

For assembly, please bring:

• elmers glue or wood glue
  
• rubber mallet (or hammer)
  
• scissors
  

For decoration, please bring:

• decals or stickers
• markers
• paint (if you are willing to monitor and clean up)

Plus, the scouts can attach other items like lego men, small plastic bits, and other small objects to decorate.

For clearcoat, I'll provide spray clearcoat for each den. Applying a lite coat to seal and give the boat a little waterproofing.

We'll do races for fastest. And, we'll do awards for best decorations.

I've placed the order for the boats and will arrange trophies as well. We already have the race "tracks" but need to ensure the school custodians can provide a hose and water on race day. I'll check with them as well.
