Hey Scout Fam,
Welcome back. Happy New Year. We hope that everyone had a great winter holiday break. Here are are our upcoming events and announcements:
I. Pack Meeting: Mon. 1/13/2025 was fun. Tigers worked on the adventure good knights & what it means to be courteous. Wolves worked on the adventure Air of the Wolf & learned about engineering. Bears, Webelos, & Arrow of Lights worked on knife safety & no one cut themselves. They used real kitchen knives & made fruit salads consisting of apples, bananas, strawberries & grapes. In boy scouts, the kids are responsible for cooking their own meals & must do so to earn rank. Therefore in cub scouts, the older cubs practice to get ready for boy scouts. We want to encourage our parents to try to include your cubs in cooking more & post pics in the groupMe.
II. Our next outing is this
Sat. 1/18/25 at the Fernbank Science Museum (156 Heaton Park dr., Atlanta, ga 30307). Admission to the center is free but we will also be visiting the planetarium which is $5/kid
s (pack d
ues pays for all cubs, parents are responsible for siblings) & $10/adults. The planetarium show for children explores the relationship between Earth, Moon, & Sun with the help of the Coyote, an amusing character adapted from Native American oral traditions. Coyote has many misconceptions about our home planet and its most familiar neighbors. His confusion about the universe makes viewers think about how Earth, Moon, & Sun work together as a system and learn to distinguish between myths and science. https://youtu.be/hMPML_SbL1w?si=2ncEEPJe_QQnXP0H
*This is a gentle reminder that the planetarium show starts at 10:15 (& they close the doors) so please be there at 10am so we can get everyone paid for & can sit together as a group.*
**It was brought to my attention at the last pack pack meeting that groupon has coupons for Fernbank Science Center. Feel free to use this option for adult & sibling tix. groupon link **
III. Swimming lessons start back up Sat. 1/18/25 as well.
IV. Next Meeting (derby Prep 1) is Mon. 1/27/25 6:30pm - 8pm. As we enter into derby season for the next few meetings, we want to ask for volunteers to help with the wood cutting & construction of the cars. So if you have any woodworking/carpentry knowledge or if you know your way around a power tool, we are looking for you. Thanks in advance.
