In the survey which I have taken, I have made suggestions regarding
the lake at City Park. It is largely unknown and not easily
accessable, except from the end of Birch Street in the Hawthorne
Subdivision. There is no parking other than in the street.
I am a model R/C boater and currently am Commodore of the St Louis
Admirals R/C Model Boat Club. I have sailed at the lake, but it
really lacks a good place from which to access the shoreline. I would
like to see a pad of concrete or flagstone right at the shoreline that
would permit good footing for getting model boats into and out of the
water. This could be done easily and cheaply. It could greatly
expand the use for the lake, not only for model boating, but also for
fishing. Some parking near the lake would also improve the situation
for this nearly hidden and unknown resource of the City.
I hope these suggestions are helpful and provide the Park Board with
some ideas. I have lived in Pacific for 10 years and have been active
with the Pacific Partnership and the Pacific Station Plaza. I have
been on several City Committees, including the current
Sesquicentennial Committe. I look forward to having further
discussions about the use of the City parks.
