1930 Ralph Carlin Workman (83)
Knockout II, Jan 1996, page 14
Letter to editor, Tom Gillis: Ralph C. Workman passed away 10 November
1995. He had been battling cancer for some time and was preparing for
further reconstruction surgery at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston at
the time of his death. Official reason was Squamous Carcinoma of the
head and neck with tobacco use bing a direct contributor to the cancer.
There was respectable representation from family and friends at the
funeral services on 14 November in Pasadena, Tx. Ralph was cremated on
16 Nov and is presently at home awaiting interment with his wife at the
future time of her passing. If this does not make sense the reasons are
financial plus he and Marie had an agreement that the one that passed
first, the other would keep them around the house till both could be
interned at the same time. Marie did not take the passing well and is
herself, at 81, having her own health problems. The Obituary published
in the local Pasadena paper said: Survivors include his wife Marie
Hester Workman of Pasadena, daughters Tommye Dixon of Plummeville Ark.,
Billee Joe Shipley of Jeromie Idaho, son Calin Jr. of Richardson Tx.,
stepson Harold Hester of Washington DC, 17 grandchildren and the
propositional number of great-grandkids. I have known Ralph for just
over 31 years when my mother and he married and in all that time I can
honestly say you were one of his best friends. Over the years, I have
had to read all your newsletters and personnel notes he could share as
he talked so freely about you I almost feel I could address you as Tom
and be comfortable. Ralph will miss you. Please give my mother's and
my best regards to Billie. Sincerely, Harold Hester, stepson.
